What is prescription insurance?
Prescription insurance is usually separate insurance from your medical coverage. If you have a commercial or health insurance through your employer there is most likely a separate prescription insurance card other than your medical coverage card. If you are eligible for Medicare (Federal) then your prescription coverage is most likely under your "Part D" coverage. If you have Medi-Cal (State) then you likely have a separate card that is all white or has a picture of flowers on it.
What information from the insurance card does the pharmacy need?
From your prescription insurance card we will need the BIN number (sometimes call the RxBIN#), the member ID number, and the Rx Group number. We may sometimes need the PCN number as well. |
Please have your most updated insurance card/information if it is the first time you are filling medications with us. If you have a profile with us but have changed prescription coverage or received a new card or information please let us know so we can update your information!
When changing coverage make sure you check with the insurance company to see if the medications you are currently taking will be covered and if you have any sort of deductible and how much your copay will be. |
